Welcome to redisourcolor, formerly known as jantoseasonal. This comm remains, essentially, the same, but with a few changes.
Here's the bottom line: every Sunday, a mod will post a challenge that will have an overall theme, a sentence that you must incorporate into your fic, and three words that you must also fit in somehow.
Write your fic, and post it to the comm sometime between the Sunday that the challenge is posted, and the Thursday the week after, when the voting goes up. On Thursday, the deadline for fics, a mod will go through and make a post with the links to the fics. This means you have one and a half weeks to write your fic. You will go through and pick one fic that you love, and on the voting poll in the same post, select the fic's name. The votes will be tallied, and on Sunday, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be posted, and the new challenge will go up. After an author has won 1st place three times, they will receive a banner.
Due to user interest and availability, this community is now running a bit differently. This change is currently billed as temporary.
First, a new prompt will be posted every Monday. Prompts will include a picture or theme, 5 words (of which 3 must be used), and 3 quotes (of which 1 must be used). Writers will have an unlimited amount of time to respond to that prompt, but are encouraged to post their works to the community. The community is entertaining the idea of having a mass-vote for absolute best work at the end of this brief reformatting, and so we will need access to all stories.
Please note that, due to these changes, all bans on certain themes of fic (AU, crossover, etc.) have been temporarily lifted. All age-restrictions and header formatting will remain the same. Once the community reverts to its original way of being run, the rules will be re-evaluated and re-implemented where necessary.
This comm is no longer Jack/Ianto specific. Feel free to ship other characters, or even write gen! Please note that crossovers and AUs are not permitted unless the theme calls for it.
When posting your fic, please use the header below (you don’t have to copy exactly, but the title, rating, summary, and disclaimer must stay), and follow the tags system. We have a very specific tags system, so please do not attempt to create your own tags. A guide to the tags can be found here, please read after joining comm..
These are adopted from fictionratings.com's rating guidelines, so all credit goes to them. I've only including ratings up to the rating R, which is the highest you can go here.
Intended for general audience 5 years and older. Content should be free of any coarse language, violence, and adult themes.
Suitable for more mature childen, 9 years and older, with minor action violence without serious injury. May contain mild coarse language. Should not contain any adult themes.
Suitable for teens, 13 years and older, with some violence, minor coarse language, and minor suggestive adult themes.
Not suitable for children or teens below the age of 16 with possible strong but non-explicit adult themes, references to violence, and strong coarse language.
You can see the original rating guidelines from the site here.
The header you should use to post should look something like this:
Title: Rating: Summary: Warnings: Notes:
The first three are mandatory, but the other two can be dropped, if you want. If your fic is a heavy R, a warning as to why it is would be nice, though.
The minimum word count for a fic is about 200 words, obviously it doesn't have to be exactly 200.
Please use the following tagging guide for your posts:
challenge# , rating
There are a few ground rules, fairly basic, and if you remember them, we'll all be happy:
-No ratings above a heavy R (as in, no NC-17 fics or beyond)
-If your story is above the PG-13/Teen rating, then it should be locked to those 17 and under (you can do this when you post your fic) and a warning should be in the header of your fic.*
-Please use proper grammar/spelling when posting your completed fics. Beta readers aren't required, but would be nice.
-No off-topic posts.
-Refrain from using anything other than the standard font style, size and colour when posting on this comm.
*We realize that, technically, a minor could log out and access any posts marked 'explicit', but this is not our responsibility. We do what we can to keep minors from reading adult content, but we can't prevent them from going to extreme measures to access it.
